Depression

Will I ever feel better?  Depression is the reaction to different situations that causes deep
sadness.  Everyone feels that sadness from time to time.  It can be a natural reaction to loss, or it can be a secondary reaction to anger or something that upsets you. Depression can be the reaction to guilt or the reaction to failure.  Depression is currently the 4th cause of global illness; it is predicted to be the 2nd by the year of 2020.


What are some of the triggers of depression?

  1. Normal grief can last from 6 months to 7 years. Some of the causes can be a death in the family or the death of a marriage or relationship; it can be changes in the family dynamics.
  2. Adjustment Reactions-bad news can trigger stress.
  3. Dysthymic Disorder-sad low grade of depression that will not go away, can also lead to low self-esteem.
  4. Major Depression-chemical depression.

If you have any of the following symptoms, don’t hesitate to contact your physician for further examinations!  Some people refuse to seek help because of shame; they may feel that they can’t let anyone know how they are feeling.  Depression will isolate you and cause you to feel that no one will understand!  All of these are stigmas that are associated with depression! Who does depression hit?  Everyone. Don’t be afraid to get help!

  1. Headaches
  2. Fatigue
  3. Disturbed sleep
  4. Dizziness
  5. Chest pains
  6. Joint pains
  7. Nausea
  8. Vomiting
  9. Constipation
  10. Menstrual problems
  11. Back or abdominal pain
